Explore the music theory topics equivalent in standard to the first year of an undergraduate degree. The topics in this module are selected from the Trinity Associate (AMusTCL) syllabus. You may use this course as part of your preparation for this exam, or just to develop your knowledge. This term: Musical skills. Break week 27th October 2025.

A lively workshop class for singers with a solid foundation in vocal technique and musicianship: employ your vocal technique in a more flexible and artistic way and deepen your understanding of critical evaluation of singing. Break weeks 5th and 26th May.

Using Alex Ross’s 'The Rest is Noise' as a guide, we'll investigate art music in the first half of the 20th century. This module covers Mahler’s last symphonies, fin de siècle Paris and the Ballet Russes, and Expressionism and the Second Viennese School. Break week: 28 October 2025.

We will be looking at novels from recent years that explore various dimensions of culture and society, reading and discussing a brief and careful selection of novels in English from several countries, diverse in style and genre. Titles include Piranesi, Susanna Clarke's mysterious and 'weird' tale of secrets and lost texts, William Boyd's Trio, which follows the life of an actress, a film producer, and a writer obsessed with the suicide of Virginia Woolf, Small Things Like These by Clare Keegan, in which a coal merchant becomes involved with the fate of a pregnant teenager trapped in a Magdalene Laundry, and Michelle de Kretser's Theory and Practice follows the academic trajectory of a Sri Lankan feminist researching the novels of Woolf.

Seeking work in Radio Drama? Explore microphone techniques and acting skills for radio at a higher level. Exclusively for those who have completed Acting for Radio Beginners and Improvers courses or have previous relevant industry experience. This course will be taught in our media studio.

This course explores musical theatre singing with a focus on technique. Suitable for singers and actors wanting to improve their singing technique for musical theatre repertoire.
