    Data is all around us. From Covid to football matches, cost of living crises to sales reports, from the workplace to home, we are hugely affected by it. Understanding data, producing it and making decisions based on it are now essential skills for everyone. This course will focus on what data is, why it is important, and how to use it You will learn how to ask the right questions about data, how to make different types of calculations using it, such as percentages and averages, how to identify and present different data patterns, and how to use different types of graphs and charts. By the end of the course you will have developed the key mathematical, numerical and analytical skills you need to use and interpret important data at work, in the news and in your daily life.

  2. Getting Ready for Maths functional skills level 2

    You will learn techniques to understand the non-calculator section of the functional skills Level 2 Maths syllabus. You will develop your mathematical skills and knowledge to work with numbers including fractions, percentages, ratio and to work out area and perimeter. This non-accredited course (no exam) will give you the opportunity demonstrate a sound grasp of the underpinning skills and basics of maths appropriate to level 2, and to apply mathematical thinking to solve simple problems in familiar situations. By the end of the course, you will have an inhouse written assessment which will allow your tutor to progress you to the accredited course, where you can get your Functional Skills level 2 Maths qualification.

    Do you want to gain a Maths GCSE but are not ready yet to achieve this in a single year? Do you need to test your abilities before attempting the qualification course? Then this Preparing for Maths GCSE is the course for you. It will prepare you for the accreditation and familiarise you with its content, level and expectation. You will need to complete and pass an initial assessment before starting this course to demonstrate at least a Level 1 Functional Skills level of Maths.
