What is the course about?
This is an excellent introduction to nutrition and covers all the key points for creating a healthy diet. You will learn how diet influences your energy levels and immune system health. Which foods and drinks you should be avoiding and what to eat to support well being.
This is a live online course. You will need:
- Internet connection. The classes work best with Chrome.
- A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook), or a tablet/iPad/smart phone/iPhone if you don't have a computer.
- Earphones/headphones/speakers.
We will contact you with joining instructions before your course starts.
What will we cover?
• The major food groups, their role in the body and healthy food sources
• Healthy and unhealthy fats
• Blood sugar levels, energy and long term health
• Vitamins and minerals for immune system health
• Foods to eat and foods to avoid for long term health.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
Explain the principles of a healthy diet.
List foods to eat to improve immune system health.
Discuss which fats to eat and which to avoid.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
This course is suitable for everyone. No prior knowledge is needed.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
Your tutor will use PowerPoint presentations, class discussion, pair work and small group work, worksheets and quizzes. There is no work outside of class.
