The course is more than just a software tutorial. Via a series of simple and engaging exercises, you will learn foundational animation knowledge and experiment with a variety of 2D animation techniques. By the end of the course you will have acquired an essential ‘toolkit’ of skills and knowledge that can be used when working with any animation software package and method of animation, (including puppet and 3D CGI).

Use the Procreate Dreams App to create animations in a variety of ways.
Understand core principles and implement foundational knowledge needed to create engaging animations.
Create engaging animation and or moving image work.
Be able to view other people’s animation and understand how and why it appears to move the way it does.
Be able to ‘troubleshoot’ animations.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
This is a course for absolute beginners. No animation or drawing experience is necessary.
It would also suit those with some animation experience wishing to brush up on skills.
We will be working loosely/roughly and there will be no pressure to produce ‘polished’ work.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
We will be working roughly and having fun creating work in a relaxed and supportive environment.
Each lesson will comprise of software tutorials, animation tutorials, clip analysis and short exercises.
The tutor will give 1-1 feedback. Learners are encouraged to share work in order that everyone can benefit from the tutor’s help.
There will be a small amount of homework set. This is not compulsory, although it is recommended that students do this in order to get the most out of the course.
Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
An iPad with Procreate Dreams loaded onto it (fully charged).
An iPencil (fully charged).
A charger (we will charge iPads during the lunch break).
When I've finished, what course can I do next?
Leave with a small portfolio demonstrating industry recognised skills.
Create work using Procreate Dreams and/or explore other animation software and techniques.
Study animation further.
Practice skills taught and apply for entry level jobs on the UK industry.
Keep in touch with fellow course members and perhaps work together on a project.
