Basketry Courses in London

City Lit is proud to be one of the only providers of adult education in Basketry. Our flagship courses are our two-year beginners’ course and our advanced year-long course; both taught by some of the UKs most respected makers and boasting alumni who have gone on to exhibit internationally. We offer specialist courses in willow and rush as well as less traditional materials and techniques such as random weave basketry.

Our exceptional teaching team are all practicing basket makers who contribute to a vibrant contemporary crafts scene worldwide. Learners benefit from their wealth of technical skill and are inspired by their creative ambition.

We supply all materials for our courses which are run in our purpose built studio. We encourage learners to take their work home and keep practicing between sessions to get the most out of their courses. Our basketry programme is small to ensure we don’t diminish the quality of delivery and our places do fill quickly.
