  2. Laser-cutting for printmaking

    Laser-cut is a way to engrave intricate hand drawn designs, photographic imagery or text into plywood blocks, which you will then take into printmaking. This course combines digital and traditional print processes to offer a new take on the art of woodcut.

  4. Japanese woodcut printmaking: developing next steps

    This five-week online course in Japanese woodcut is ideal for those continuing to develop their printmaking skills within this specialist area and those who have previously studied tha basics of Japanese Woodcut. This course will support your development in exploring the techniques of bokashi and betazuri and refine cutting techniques, contextualising throughout with traditional ukiyo-e and contemporary Mokuhanga printmakers.

  6. Preparing digital images for printmaking

    The world of traditional printmaking is increasingly becoming dominated by digital technology. Screenprinting, photo-etching, polymer gravure and relief, and photo litho all require imagery that has been generated using digital image manipulation software. This online workshop in preparing digital images for printmaking will provide an introduction to specialise tools and techniques required using Adobe Photoshop in order to prepare your imagery for these printmaking processes.

    This course is FREE if a) you live in London and your job is at risk of redundancy or b) you are either on Jobseekers' Allowance (JSA) or Employment & Support Allowance(ESA) or c) you receive other state benefits (including Universal Credit) and your monthly take home pay is less than £343.   11. Mokulito printmaking workshop

  14. Looking at artists: focus on relief printmaking

    In this short course you will look at how and why artists make use of the technique of relief printmaking. The tutor will guide you through what woodcut, linocut and related relief printing techniques are, how they developed historically, looking at artists such as Durer, Hiroshige, Picasso and Bawden, and how they are still relevant for contemporary artists such as Anne Desmet and Bill Fick. There is no practical element to this course.

  15. Introduction to painting skin tones in 3 colours
