Ever wanted to make your own jewellery? Try out jewellery-making, getting to grips with the basic processes and

techniques for using metal to create simple yet beautiful earrings, rings, pendants and bracelets to your own designs.

Graphic Design is everywhere; from books, magazines and newspapers to packaging design and digital media.

In this developing course, you will further explore the key movements and styles within Graphic Design and explore in more depth layout, typography, colour, shape and pattern and how they can be used to communicate effectively.

Please bring your camera (if you have one) to the classes and you may wish to bring a notebook and pen. City Lit has a range of Digital SLR and mirrorless cameras (Canon, Fuji, Nikon, Sony), tripods, lenses and flash which you are welcome to use during the hours of the class.

It would be useful to bring a memory stick (or portable hard drive - please note: PC formatted hard drives can be read by Apple mac computers but not written to.) We advise all students to have a notebook (A5) to support the recording of information and ideas.

Whilst not necessary for this course, when you enrol on a course at the City Lit, you are entitled to student discount on Adobe Creative Cloud.

On this one-day course you will explore the photographic process of cyanotype printmaking onto paper. This print process produces beautiful deep-blue prints and can be created using drawings, photographs and botanicals as well as a variety of physical objects and open-weave materials.

Learn the techniques required in making sculptural or functional objects in steel: cutting, bending, welding and joining small scale metal. Please bring ideas, inspiration and scrap metal. This course is for beginners and those at intermediate level.

The course will cover specialist skills-based training in Calligraphy with Design, blending traditional skills with an introduction to the latest trends in the calligraphy and design world. Please note this course runs on Monday evenings from 18:30 - 21:00, plus one Saturday per term from 10:30 - 16:30.
