Our range of part-time, weekend and evening art and design classes are taught by successful artists and practitioners to ensure you get the skills, knowledge and experience you want and deserve. From experimental painting and drawing to contemporary jewellery making, there is sure to be a course for you. Study from 1 day to 2 years, whether you are a complete beginner or a practising artist preparing for an MA. Our courses are designed with you in mind, so you get to spend more time doing what you love.

Tutors: Andrew McCartenThis course will give you a strong basis for starting to explore what Graphic Design is as a subject. We will lead you in exploring creating graphic images and words. It will include looking at how drawing tasks can lead onto abstraction and graphic representation. You will also explore the nature of text and words, including poetry, of their form and layout and their graphic representation using creative and playful analogue working techniques.
Note the course does not include any software teaching use in terms of the creation of works. You will however be guided to take photographs of your works and create pdf’s to submit onto a course Padlet, which is a shared class resource.
Working on a series of short engaging tasks and homework extension tasks, supported by contextual references for visual inputs, you will build both subject confidence and the ability to produce creative graphic design solutions.
