Printmaking Courses in London & Online

At City Lit, we offer a wide range of printmaking courses, aimed at catering for your interest whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced artist. Our printmaking studio is a communal and collaborative space that celebrates the joy of working alongside others in pursuit of printmaking excellence.

We specialise in etching, screen-printing, relief and multi-media combinations. Our group classes are small, enabling you to learn using a combination of presses and printmaking equipment designed to enable multiple approaches to the medium.

All our tutors are artist practitioners with hands-on expertise. They are there to help you explore and challenge yourself towards making beautiful prints to take home or exhibit.

  2. Get skills in : Mokulito printmaking techniques

    Mokulito or wood lithography uses plywood as a printing matrix to draw with inks, sharpies and lithographic crayons and create images that will print as small editions.

    The ideal follow-on for those who have done 'Introduction to etching' and would like to go deeper into the techniques and processes of etching.   4. Cut, stab and etch: printmaking with linocuts

    Cut, stab and etch your way to dynamic blocks and exciting prints. Practical instruction in both traditional and inventive linocut techniques, including the reduction method developed by Picasso, multiple block printing and Polish dot linocut.

  5. Digital printmaking techniques: laser-cutting for print

    Laser-cut is a way to engrave intricate hand drawn designs, photographic imagery or text into plywood blocks, which you will then take into printmaking. This course combines digital and traditional print processes to offer a new take on the art of woodcut.

  7. Get skills in: drypoint and intaglio techniques

    Drypoint is a way of creating grooves in a solid surface, it produces a rich unique type of drawn line, from which you will make prints using intaglio inking methods, This workshop offers the opportunity to use specialist techniques and tools and gain insight into how these sit within the creative practice of artists using drypoint. For all levels, although some experience of drawing is preferable.
