    On this course, we will push the boundaries of life drawing practice by transforming drawings from 2D into 3D sculptural forms. You’ll experiment with a range of materials and techniques, exploring how drawing can evolve into sculpture.

    • Work directly from the life model in experimental and inventive ways.

    This two-day course immerses you in modern and contemporary sculpture through a guided visit to Tate Modern and a practical session at City Lit’s sculpture studio. On the first day, explore key works, discuss techniques, and gather inspiration with an expert tutor. On the second day, develop an exhibition proposal or create a small 3D artwork using clay, plaster, latex, and wax, while exploring foundational sculptural concepts in a supportive, hands-on environment.

  5. Public sculpture: theatre, retail, film

    This course moves between creative contexts to introduce a core set of transferable skills in clay modelling, mould making, and casting. Through practical projects, you will gain hands-on experience with these materials and processes, building skills you can apply in professional settings or personal creative practice.

    During this course you will gain experience using air dry clay and polymer clay for modelling objects. Sculpting and carving will be explored using polystyrene and plaster.
