Our introductory stage courses will guide students through the creative processes involved, working through a series of creative projects and tasks, with one-to-one expert guidance. Students studying graphic design and illustration will analyse the ideas of some of the biggest designers in theses creative subjects and will obtain the skills required to make work like their favourite designers. Learn what being a designer is all about and leave with a professional portfolio of graphic design and illustration work.

Learn how to work to a creative brief as well as the generation and development of ideas through creative problem solving. Explore various approaches to drawing, typography, narrative and abstraction and different forms of communication using both hand and digital techniques and processes.

Our skills based workshops focus on particular elements within graphic design and illustration, and are perfect for students who have a specific project in mind or process they want to learn. From the A-Z of typography to Botanical illustration, our tutors will help students at every stage.

All our graphic design and illustration courses are delivered in our spacious digital studios that are fully equipped with the latest Adobe CC software, Apple Mac computers, laptops and printing facilities. Students at City Lit will have everything they need to achieve their creative ambitions.

You will learn some of the core skills in layout, importing, exporting and printing through Adobe In-Design.     City Lit Graphic Design Part 2 provides an opportunity to pursue your enthusiasm for visual communication, developing existing design skills by taking creative risks, engage in experimental approaches to design briefs, enhance creative thinking skills and gain an insight and understanding of contemporary design practices.

    It is still possible to join the course at this stage if you have not completed Part 1, however you will need to have some prior knowledge of the basic principles used in design and prior experience using the Adobe software programmes; InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
