Our range of part-time, weekend and evening art and design classes are taught by successful artists and practitioners to ensure you get the skills, knowledge and experience you want and deserve. From experimental painting and drawing to contemporary jewellery making, there is sure to be a course for you. Study from 1 day to 2 years, whether you are a complete beginner or a practising artist preparing for an MA. Our courses are designed with you in mind, so you get to spend more time doing what you love.

  1. Jewellery: raising repousee and fold-forming

    Learn the traditional techniques of repousse (pushed metal) and fold forming. You will learn the basics of the traditional method of creating a raised design or pattern using punches and hammers to form flat sheet and explore the use of single and multiple folds in sheet metal to help you create your own 3-dimensional forms. Emphasis will be on experimentation of the demonstrated techniques with copper, as the organic processes create a wide variety of unique results.

  2. Introduction to screenprinting

  4. Mixed media drawing and collage

  5. Oil painting: focus on light and shade

    This oil painting course takes inspiration from the moody and luminous imagery of classic Film Noir such as ‘The Third Man’. Students will explore composition, tonal transition and contrast to enhance their pleasure in oil painting and create strong and powerful paintings.

  6. Cut, stab and etch: printmaking with linocuts

    Cut, stab and etch your way to dynamic blocks and exciting prints. Practical instruction in both traditional and inventive linocut techniques, including the reduction method developed by Picasso, multiple block printing and Polish dot linocut.

  7. Digital printmaking techniques: laser-cutting for print

    Laser-cut is a way to engrave intricate hand drawn designs, photographic imagery or text into plywood blocks, which you will then take into printmaking. This course combines digital and traditional print processes to offer a new take on the art of woodcut.

    Discover metal jewellery making techniques to create a piece of jewellery. You will be introduced to the basic
