Our range of part-time, weekend and evening art and design classes are taught by successful artists and practitioners to ensure you get the skills, knowledge and experience you want and deserve. From experimental painting and drawing to contemporary jewellery making, there is sure to be a course for you. Study from 1 day to 2 years, whether you are a complete beginner or a practising artist preparing for an MA. Our courses are designed with you in mind, so you get to spend more time doing what you love. New for 2020 we now offer a creative portfolio of live online courses as well as our face-face studio based teaching.

  2. Calligraphy: flourished decorations

    Learn how to decorate your handwritten letterforms and take them to the next level. This course is for those looking to further study the art of flourished pointed pen lettering. You will learn a variety of entry and exit strokes, flourishes, stand-alone decorative elements, and the principals of correct shaping, sizing, and design. Some prior knowledge of pointed pen calligraphy is required.

    Start drawing and learn traditional and less traditional methods of drawing simple objects. Using structured activities, we will introduce key concepts such as line, tone, composition and mark making. Ideal if you have little or no drawing experience; a great way to learn the basics or prepare for longer courses.

  6. Get skills in: Typography and working with type

    Typography is the keystone of good graphic design and can be used in a wide range of approaches to influence your artwork and design intentions. Designing and working with type will offer a practical opportunity to develop an in-depth appreciation of typography, learning its history, how type has been used in industry and in referecne to many world infleuntial deisgners. Learn how to effectively create, manipulate type, layout and embed type within your design work using the professional industry software Adobe Indesign and Adobe Illustrator.
