Our range of part-time, weekend and evening art and design classes are taught by successful artists and practitioners to ensure you get the skills, knowledge and experience you want and deserve. From experimental painting and drawing to contemporary jewellery making, there is sure to be a course for you. Study from 1 day to 2 years, whether you are a complete beginner or a practising artist preparing for an MA. Our courses are designed with you in mind, so you get to spend more time doing what you love. New for 2020 we now offer a creative portfolio of live online courses as well as our face-face studio based teaching.

  3. Japanese woodcut printmaking: developing next steps
    Course start date:  Thu 30 Sep 2021

    This is an all-day Japanese Woodcut class spread over seven weeks. The course is designed to take the student rom an introduction to the process, designing, carving and creating their own multi-coloured prints but also allowing for the more experienced student to develop their own projects in greater depth, researching and contextualising Japanese Woodcut into their own art practice. All students are encouraged to do their own research that is shared with the group promoting a lively, friendly and supportive studio environment.



    The process is water based, non-toxic and handmade with a small outlay this is a technique that can easily be



    practised at home. The tutor trained in Japan, learning the technique from Japanese sensei on a residency



    programme based in the foothills of Mount Fuji. It is her main art practice.

  8. Advanced painting: practice and discourse

    Develop your painting in greater depth on this new, advanced course, working with a team of artist-tutors and a committed network of peer-practitioners, across a set of projects focusing on a range of contemporary themes, processes, and debates. The course is intended for experienced painters with a positive and enquiring attitude to the practices and discourses of painting in its various forms, and a commitment to peer-dialogue and critical discussion. Focused and intensive studio-based weekend projects (once per month), are interspersed with weekly online tutorials, feedback, discussion and seminars.

    Build an individual fine art practice by exploring painting, drawing, sculpture, mixed media and contextual studies, across a series of structured projects in live on-line classes allowing you to participate from home or in your own workspace. You will be expected to keep up with current art practice and exhibitions, on-line and/or in your locality. Weekly on-line group tutorials will help you adopt an independent and experimental approach to your work. The course can be taken for personal development, or act as a bridge between adult short courses and entry to undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
