Artist talk: Monika Kita - Beyond history: the space in between

Course Dates: 08/04/21
Time: 19:00 - 20:00
Location: Online
Tutors:
Monika Kita is an artist whose work encompasses photography, video, film, and sound. Her practice is concerned with the subject of loss, with a strong emphasis on space, time, and history. Memory as a psychological journey inwards adds an important dimension to her work. She is particularly interested in landscapes but also derelicts buildings such as atomic power stations and disused military objects in the context of historical events. Alongside the rather personal nature of such inward contemplation about time and loss, Monika’s works could be also viewed as time documents that record, remind and warn of the dangers of global alienation and destruction.

Her work has been presented in many individual and collective exhibitions and shown at BBC Shorts, East End Film Festival, and Venice Biennale. The talk ‘ Beyond History – The Space In Between’ will explore the core themes and methodology of practice.
This course will be delivered online. See the ‘What is the course about?’ section in course details for more information.
