What is the course about?

This course is about enabling you to become confident on an essential workplace tool. You will focus not only on the functions of Teams but also on their purpose by engaging in real-life workplace tasks. You will learn about making calls, chatting, using the camera, using the calendar, setting up meetings, and using meeting notes. You will also focus on using files, organising them and using these files to work collaboratively with colleagues.

What will we cover?

• identifying the purpose and use of Teams - when and how to use it
• communicating via chat - with and without the camera
• using the calendar and setting up meetings
• participating in and hosting meetings - how to conduct yourself
• using meeting notes
• using files in meetings, organising them and collaborating with them.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

• identify the purpose and use of Teams - when and how to use it
• communicate via chat - with and without the camera
• use the calendar and set up meetings
• participate in and host meetings - conducting yourself effectively online
• use meeting notes
• use files in meetings, organise them and collaborate with them.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This is a beginners' course. You will have some digital skills but you do not need to have used Teams before. If you wish to gain a level of digital skills ready to complete this course, we recommend:

• Becoming confident in file management and Windows 10 on your PC (beginners).

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

You will learn in a supportive and welcoming environment. You will work on your own and with other students on different tasks so you are always practising, and developing important in-demand life and work skills such as problem-solving, decision-making, prioritising, negotiating, collaborating and independence. You will learn in a step-by-step manner so you can complete challenging tasks in enjoyable and relaxing ways. Your tutor will also work with you individually so you know how to improve and how to work in a way that improves your learning. You will need to do work outside the classroom and use Google Classroom to help you.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

You will need a pen, paper and a file to keep your work in. Your tutor will provide handouts and a code for Google classroom so you can communicate with classmates and access materials, videos etc. online.
