What is the course about?
Explore the blues from the perspective of a guitarist : what makes the form; how to sound like a blues player; how to play in an ensemble.
What will we cover?
We'll look at the forms of blues tunes, and at historical background. We'll learn chord progressions and important stylistic characteristics. Develop solos and accompany others.

By the end of this course you should be able to...
Play common blues progressions with confidence.
Strum, finger-pick, and solo in a stylistically authentic fashion.
Have become familiar with the genre, its leading artists and styles.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
You will need good guitar technique and be able to play dominant chords anywhere on the instrument.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
Playing music as a group, with opportunity for individual endeavour and feedback.
Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
The course is equally suitable for acoustic and electric guitarists. Amplification not supplied, however.
When I've finished, what course can I do next?
More blues, and/or jazz guitar.
