What is the course about?
Having mastered the 1NT opening, responses, and initial suit bidding, we continue with simple rebidding in a suit with strong and week hands. If you enjoy playing cards then this course is for you! Bridge is an exciting, partnership game requiring four players. Over 8 weeks you will learn the first principles of playing this rewarding and sociable game.
What will we cover?
We begin by revising the opening in a suit and simple responses. Thereafter we continue to look at how to continue the auction with weak and strong, balanced and unbalanced hands.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
• Respond to declarer’s opening bid with and without support for partner’s suit
• As opener know how to rebid with strong and weak hands
• State the point range needed by declarer to rebid one, two and three no trumps
• Consolidate card play.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
This course follows on from UBD35 Bridge 1: module 1 and assumes a knowledge of the opening one no trump and how to respond with weak and strong hands.
A good understanding of English is essential.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
This is very much a ‘hands on’ course where you will be playing cards constantly. In addition, there will be worksheets and quizzes to help consolidate learning. You do not need to do anything outside the class but you will be encouraged to do so.
Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
You need only bring notepad and pen.
When I've finished, what course can I do next?
The follow-on course, UBD34 Bridge 1: module 3 (weekend) begins in May 2020.
