Description

What is the course about?

Improving declarer and defensive play in Bridge.

What will we cover?

We will look at protective bidding; 2nd and 3rd hand play; signals and discards.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

• Know and apply the principles of protective bidding
• Play and understand why it is usually right for the second hand to play low and the third hand high
• Learn how to use attitude and suit preference signals and discards.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

The course is aimed at intermediate bridge players with the equivalent of 18 months’ bridge tuition who wish to develop their card technique. If you wish to speak to the tutor regarding the suitability of this course for you, please contact the Humanities department. .A good understanding of English is essential.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

This is very much a ‘hands on’ course where you will be playing cards immediately. In addition, there will be worksheets and quizzes to help consolidate learning. You do not need to do anything outside the class but you will be encouraged to do so.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

You need only bring notetaking materials.

When I've finished, what course can I do next?

You might want to progress onto the follow-on course - Bridge 3: module 2 - more decalrer and defensive play, (UBD26) which starts in January 2020.
