What is the course about?
In this workshop, you will learn how to make good use of role shift in BSL, and will have the opportunity to practise using this important grammatical feature in different contexts.

- Know how to make good use of referents and placement
- Understand role shift for better receptive skills.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
This course is designed for those who are currently on a level 2 or 3 BSL course.
You will need to have basic literacy as you will be asked to read simple explanations and instructions.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
- Demonstration and explanations
- Pair/group work.
- Role play activities
- Individual practice.

Video resources and books are available for loan from the City Lit library.
When I've finished, what course can I do next?
To continue your learning of BSL, there are a number of workshops aimed at developing your knowledge and skills, such as ‘BSL intensive fingerspelling practice’ and ‘Level 3 BSL receptive skills practice’.
