What is the course about?

In this short course you will:
●    Define your own project from the start—no cookie-cutter tutorials. This will be more like an art class than a traditional programming course.
●    You’ll work in a modern developer “studio” environment, so no setup or installation required—just code, anywhere, anytime.
●    Learn how to use AI as your collaborator.
●    Come with an idea, leave with an app - This is your chance to combine human creativity and artificial intelligence—and see what you’re capable of achieving.

What will we cover?

  • Week 1 - Build your first web page
  • Week 2 - From web pages to web apps
  • Week 3 - Plan and start developing your app
  • Week 4 - Deploy your app
  • Week 5 - Show off your app!

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

  • Become familiar with the basics of Web Development: a short introduction to the Web’s building blocks: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Short introduction to Python programming for web apps
  • AI-Assisted Coding: Learn how to use an intelligent agent to write, debug, and explain code
  • Project Design & Delivery: Understand what Github is for, and learn how to manage and deploy your source code

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

Having some background in programming or web development will help but this course is also suitable for beginners with no previous programming experience.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Instruction will be done through lectures, in-class exercises, and a few homework assignments.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

City Lit tuition is the only cost and there’s nothing you need to bring. You may choose to subscribe to an AI development service, such as Replit or AI Studio, however, those paid services are optional and at your discretion.
