What is the course about?

Through practical exercises and examples from business and professional writing, the course will explore how strong narratives can strengthen reports, presentations, case studies and other professional communications. There will be fortnightly reading assignments and writing exercises.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This class is suitable for anyone who wants to improve their professional writing skills, including those working in business, communications, marketing or the public sector. No specialist knowledge is required, but you should be comfortable writing in English.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

The class will include discussion of examples, short lectures on writing techniques and practical writing exercises.

Deborah Martin

Deborah Martin has been a content writer and communications specialist for 15 years. She has written for global brands, national publications and marketing agencies across the world. She is also a qualified further education lecturer and has an MA in Creative Writing from Birkbeck College, University of London. Her short stories, poetry and essays have been featured in various collections. She was a finalist in both the Fish Short Memoir Prize 2018 and Poetry Rivals 2016.
