What is the course about?
Have you ever wondered why it is so difficult to change a small behaviour? Those who ‘walk their talk’ because they have changed their own beliefs and behaviours are more effective at instilling alternative behaviours in others, so this session invites you to bring along a small habit of your own that you would like to change. Choose a habit or skill you have been meaning to master for years and never quite got around to doing. Please come with a sense of curiosity and fun.
What will we cover?
- Noticing how you become motivated to do something
- Gaining leverage from what you learn
- Applying your findings to the next change situation
- Using your acquired knowledge to motivate others.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
- Describe how you become motivated to get something done
- Name three triggers and the parts they play, ie motivation, outcome, leverage
- Describe what is involved when you ask someone to change a behaviour.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
Some knowledge of NLP could be useful but is not essential. The course is suitable for anybody who is interested in the applications of NLP to help create a purposeful and meaningful life. Open-mindedness and curiosity are certainly an asset. To benefit fully from this course, you need to have a reasonable level of spoken English. If you are unsure please contact an advisor or the tutor.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
The sessions will include theory input, demonstrations, discussions, practice in small groups and pairs, as well as experiential assignments between classes to integrate and test your learning. Handouts will be provided.
Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
There will be no additional costs. The course fee will cover a number of handouts produced by the tutor.
