Would you like to add some chi kung walks to your existing chi kung practice? At this workshop you will learn many walks which have a connection to the Five Elements in Chinese philosophy. The walks will help strengthen areas of the body such as lower back and chest and will bring attention to overall balance and grounding.

Description

What is the course about?

This course will teach you some slow meditative walks, linked to the Five Elements in Chinese Philosophy. You will learn the basic theory of The Five Elements. Walking chi kung helps to focus the mind; builds confidence and stability in movement.

What will we cover?

You will learn the basic stance in Chi Kung, along with some warm up exercises before moving into slow meditative walking. A walk for each Element, Earth, Metal, Water, Wood and Fire, will be taught. The day will end with a sitting meditation.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

• Practise the basic chi kung stance
• Perform some warm up exercises
• Demonstrate 5 walks related to the Five Elements
• Practise sitting meditation.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

Some experience recommended although the course is suitable for all levels. No specific skills are required.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

The tutor will demonstrate all moves; the group will work along with the tutor.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

It is advisable to wear loose comfortable clothing and soft flat shoes.

When I've finished, what course can I do next?

You can enrol in the course Chi Kung for all Levels.

Tutor Biographies
Patricia Teahan

Tricia Teahan has run Chi Kung classes at City Lit Adult Education since 2007. Her first connection with energy work was with the martial art Aikido in the 70’s and 80’s. She then went on to study both Shiatsu and Craniosacral Therapy, graduating in both disciplines in the late 90’s. She continued her interest in energy work studying and completing a teacher training course in Chi Kung Tricia has worked with various groups over the years, mainly with breast cancer and senior groups as well as general classes. Tricia’s passion for Chi Kung shines through in her teaching. She says ‘Chi Kung movements are beautiful, free flowing, relaxing and meditative’. She also has a love for Chi Kung walks.
