What is the course about?

The course is designed to build on the skills and language knowledge acquired in previous modules while expanding your range of spoken vocabulary and written characters. It also aims to enhance your communicative competence and familiarise you with different voice and accent variations, including male and female speakers.

What will we cover?

This course includes pronunciation practice, more advanced Chinese grammar, and character writing exercises. Additionally, it covers practical daily conversational topics such as making a phone call and being a guest, helping you build confidence in real-life interactions.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

  • Make a phone call and write emails
  • Describe your home
  • Be a guest in a Chinese family
  • Write an informal letter to a Chinese friend
  • Use more characters (60-80)

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

Students will need to have completed 2 upper modules 1 & 2 or have an equivalent intermediate level of Chinese. A working knowledge of 300 characters would be an advantage.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Our courses are characterised by spoken interaction and communication. Typical activities include pair work, group work, role plays and games. A range of resources will be used to support your learning including presentations, hand-outs, and audio-visual material.
Homework is highly recommended to consolidate learning.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

This course combines the tutor's own materials with content from Discover China Student's Book 1. Please check with your teacher before purchasing, as some tutors may or may not use this book in their lessons.
