What is the course about?

Are you using your full potential to be innovative at work? Utilising your creative skills can mean improvements in your products and services, solving problems quicker and making strides in developing your business processes.

You can also take advantage of Artificial Intelligence to support your problems solving and innovation.

This course is for learners who want to learn methods and tools to ignite latent creativity to help them with business innovation.

The course will be interactive and experiential and where possible we will apply them to your real-life issues/opportunities. You will be supported in using generative AI tools (ChatGPT/Claude).

What will we cover?

• Breaking Assumptions - A way of looking at the assumptions about a problem or opportunity, and a way to challenge these assumptions in order to create new ideas and solutions.
• Root Cause Analysis(RCA) - How do we find root causes of an issue or a problem? We will explore tools for RCA and understand the differences in causes.
• TRIZ - A method for creativity in finding solutions to difficult problems based on common patterns in innovation.

• Experience creative ideas that will inspire your own development at work
• Be more confident in identifying wide-ranging solutions when faced with problems or opportunities at work

The course is designed for beginners or intermediate learners with little or no experience of the material. It will appeal to all those who would like to be more creative thinkers for problem solving in their own business or at the workplace.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

The teaching will be mainly experiential using real world situations. Handouts will also be provided. You will need access to a smartphone.

Ketan Varia

Ketan teaches courses in Philosophy and History at City Lit, covering topics including Indian history and philosophy, the history of mathematics and engineering, and the Industrial Revolution. He also delivers short courses in Generative AI. Ketan is of Indian heritage with a deep passion for history and culture. Having studied engineering before moving into a career in business change and transformation, he brings a rare blend of technical and humanistic perspective to his teaching. Over the past 25 years he has visited many places of historical and spiritual significance across the Indian subcontinent and Europe.
