Continue to progress through Greek grammar.


What is the course about?

The course books aim to teach grammar through reading as well as with grammatical exercises.

What will we cover?

We shall be using the two volumes of Reading Greek, Text book and Grammar and Exercises.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

Read Greek fluently. Demonstrate knowledge of middle verbs, including the contract verbs; 1st declension feminine nouns; expressions with the genitive; personal pronouns.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

You should have completed Classical Greek 1 module 1 or have an equivalent knowledge.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Whole class work. Translation, grammar instruction, grammatical exercises. About 2 hours homework per week.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

Reading Greek by the Joint Association of Classical Teachers (Peter Jones and Keith Sidwell); 2nd edition, CUP, 2 vols; vol 1, Text and Vocabulary; vol 2, Grammar and Exercises. Some copies available in the library.

When I've finished, what course can I do next?

Students who finish this level can progress to Classical Greek 3: module 3.
