Description

What is the course about?

The focus is on play, discovering one's stupidity ... and having fun! The study of Clown is a marvellous tool for performers as it requires openness, honesty and freshness.
"We do not stop playing because we grow old,
we grow old because we stop playing" Benjamin Franklin.

What will we cover?

Play, timing, physical and spatial awareness. The emphasis will be on group and then solo work. This workshop will encourage participants to let go, stop thinking and enjoy themselves … then find ways to share this enjoyment with others!

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

* Develop a strong, simple, playful relationship with partners and the audience.
* Be aware of the strength of simplicity and be able to experience and demonstrate this on stage.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

The course is suitable for complete beginners and for anyone wanting to rediscover and refresh their playfulness.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

We will work in groups and duos out of which the solo work will be developed. Body awareness and physical expression are central to the workshop. These are both released via playful physical games and exercises.
You may be asked to participate in rigorous activity from time to time. Please consider whether you could do this.

As part of the course content, your tutor may record your image for initial and ongoing assessment purposes. You are entitled to decline to participate in the recording of your image.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

No. You will need to wear comfortable clothes in which you can move easily. No tight clothes.
