Learn how to achieve consistent digital colour using icc profiles, viewing on a monitor, output to web and desktop printing. Adobe Photoshop and X-Rite software on Apple Macs.


What is the course about?

An Introduction to the method of achieving consistent colour across computer monitors, printers, scanners and file output.

What will we cover?

The ICC system of Colour Management of digital images.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

- recognise the need for colour spaces in a colour-managed workflow
- create and use a monitor profile
- create and use a printer profile
- set up Photoshop for a colour-managed workflow.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This is an introductory course for people wishing to improve the colour accuracy and consistency of their digital images.
You will need to be able to follow simple written and verbal instructions to support demonstrations, hand-outs and for health and safety information, and be prepared to take part in group discussion. You should be happy using numbers and able to do simple measurements and calculations.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Demonstrations, talks, slide presentations, handouts and practical exercises.
