Communicating at work: presenting to camera

Make talking to camera part of your business tool kit. Has talking to a camera replaced face to face meetings? Has your business moved online? Do you need to speak to camera to reach your customers? Do you use Skype (or similar) to communicate with colleagues, or for job interviews? This course will enable you to confidently present on video within your business environment. It will enable you to talk to camera and read autocue, to portray the very best version of you on camera to your clients and colleagues. Your recordings will be made in a well equipped TV studio environment and you will be given unedited files of your work.


What is the course about?

Build your on screen confidence, learn the skills of presenting to camera in a business/corporate world, read autocue. You can bring your own autocue script with your bespoke company message to make a recording for your business/website. We can use green screen to give your video a graphic background. This practical course is set in the City Lit’s TV studio equipped with up to date professional broadcast industry equipment. The tutor, a BBC trained TV director with over 25 years of experience directing mainstream programmes for BBC and ITV, has extensive experience training people to present to camera for business.

Overcoming nerves, presenting to camera, reading autocue.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

• Communicate through the camera
• Read autocue.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

Beginners/general standard.

In order to get the most from the course you will be able to:
• Speak English fluently and clearly
• Understand instructions and be able to work to a brief
• Take direction, be adaptive, take notes
• Receive constructive feedback.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

In-class practical exercises will be recorded on camera and played back with helpful constructive comments. There may be some weekly prep such as viewing and preparing scripts. Reading So You Want to be a TV Presenter published by Nick Hern Books, and The TV Presenter’s Career Handbook published by Focal Press will be very useful, both written by the tutor.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

No extra costs. Bring notepad and pen.
