What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This is an advanced-level course designed for learners who have completed basic counselling training, such as an introductory course or the equivalent of Level 2 or Level 3. You should have a foundational understanding of counselling skills and be ready to build on that through active participation, reflection, and skills practice. A willingness to engage and develop your abilities further is essential.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

You will be taught in-person through practical, hands-on learning. Each session begins with a brief introduction to the focus skill, followed by structured skills practice in pairs or small groups. These practice sessions involve real listening and responding. There is no formal work outside the classroom, though you may be encouraged to reflect on your learning between sessions.

You will receive regular verbal feedback during class from both the tutor and your peers. Feedback is supportive and focused on how you apply each skill in practice sessions. You will also be encouraged to reflect on your own development and to offer constructive feedback to others, helping to deepen awareness and build confidence within the group.
