What is the course about?
Numbers are everywhere and it’s important to be able to recognise numbers and use them in our everyday lives. We will explore numbers in a creative way, using games, role play and task-based activities to make this learning fun and reduce the fear some people have around numbers and calculation.
What will we cover?
We’ll cover a range of topics, including: handling money, basic addition and subtraction, using a calculator, making simple graphs and pie charts, measuring (m and cm), weighing ingredients (g and kg), ages, buying and selling stationery in a pop up shop at City Lit.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
Feel more confident dealing with money in your everyday life
Be able to add the cost of items on a shopping list, using a calculator
Be able to weigh ingredients for a recipe
Be able to recognise numbers on buses, shops and houses etc
Participate in a pop up shop selling stationery.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
The course is for adults from pre-Entry level upwards.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
Teaching will be by demonstration, small group and pair work.
