What is the course about?

This course is the third part of the Danish 2 Upper course, designed for learners who have completed Modules 1 and 2 or have equivalent experience. It continues to build fluency and confidence in Danish through interactive activities focused on conversation, listening, reading, and writing. Emphasis will be placed on more nuanced communication and deeper cultural understanding.

What will we cover?

  • Talking about past experiences and future plans
  • Expressing opinions, preferences, and intentions
  • Describing people, places, and events in more detail
  • Reading and discussing short texts and articles
  • Listening to authentic Danish audio and video materials
  • Exploring aspects of Danish culture, traditions, and current affairs
  • Grammar topics such as verb tenses, word order, and sentence structure

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

  • Communicate more confidently in a range of everyday situations
  • Understand the main points of spoken and written Danish on familiar topics
  • Express yourself using a wider range of vocabulary and structures
  • Demonstrate improved pronunciation and listening comprehension
  • Show greater awareness of Danish customs and cultural norms
  • Negotiate situations in which you don't understand without switching to English

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This is an intermediate course (CEFR level A2-B1). You should have completed Danish 2 Upper, module 2 or have equivalent knowledge, i.e. be nearing the end of your 3rd year of Danish study. If you haven't studied with City Lit before, but have studied Danish to this level then you're welcome to join us!

You should be able to understand and produce simple connected text and participate in short conversations on familiar topics.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

The course is taught online through a mix of:

  • Interactive group activities
  • Pair and group work in breakout rooms
  • Listening and reading comprehension exercises
  • Pronunciation and speaking practice
  • Homework assignments to reinforce learning

You will be expected to spend some time outside of class reviewing material and completing short tasks.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
