What is the course about?
This course is a continuation of the beginners Danish course (Danish 1: module 2) building upon and expanding basic Danish conversational skills as well as increasing knowledge of Danish culture.
This is a live online course. You will need:
- Internet connection. The classes work best with Chrome.
- A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook), or a tablet/iPad/smart phone/iPhone if you don't have a computer.
- Earphones/headphones/speakers.
We will contact you with joining instructions before your course starts.
What will we cover?
You will learn to communicate in a broader range of everyday situations with topcis such as going to the doctors, life stages and traditions (birthdays, marriage, baptism), facts about Danish society, and expressing your opinions, dreams, wishes and desires.

- talk about Danish traditions and society
- express and justify opinions, dreams, wishes and desires
- talk about past, present and future events.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
This course is for near beginners – students should have completed Danish: 1: module 2 or have equivalent knowledge of the language.

You will also need to be able to respond to simple instructions and explanations, as well as read course documents, in English. You will need to be at ease with the use of numbers for daily activities (e.g. using money, telling the time, using the 24 hour clock, reading timetables). It would also be helpful if you had some knowledge of basic grammar terminology such as: a verb, a noun and conjugation.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
Our courses are characterised by spoken interaction and communication. Typical activities include pair work, group work, role plays and games. A range of resources will be used to support your learning including presentations, hand-outs, and audio-visual material.
Homework is highly recommended to consolidate learning.

Before coming to Citylit five years ago, Helle taught for 16 years at Morley College and has also been teaching at the FCO and various other London based language schools. Helle originally trained as a classical singer and is passionate about music, art, communication and languages. Apart from her native Danish, she speaks Italian, German, French, Swedish and some Russian. With her musical background, Helle puts particular emphasis on pronunciation, but also on grammar and the underlying structure of languages. Furthermore she likes to explore the history and culture which connects Denmark and Great Britain. ‘I love to stimulate curiosity and enthusiasm, seeing my students progress to become able to communicate in the target language. I pride myself on creating an atmosphere of inclusiveness in class where nobody feels left out and everybody is enjoying themselves. That is the perfect environment for learning!’
