What is the course about?

Danish-speaking culture has given the world the timeless fairy tales of Hans Christian Andersen, the poetic storytelling and evocative narratives of Karen Blixen, the gripping political drama of Borgen and the dark, atmospheric crime series such as The Bridge (Broen). The country’s film industry has made waves internationally, from Carl Theodor Dreyer’s groundbreaking classic The Master of the House (Du skal ære din hustru) to Thomas Vinterberg’s Academy Award-winning Another Round (Druk), Danish storytelling has captivated audiences worldwide.

Mastering the language not only allows you to enjoy these works in their original form but also connects you to Denmark’s vibrant, progressive society. Plus, with its close ties to English and other Scandinavian languages, Danish is an accessible and rewarding language to learn. So why not start today? Having lived in several countries and learned multiple languages herself, she understands both the rewards and challenges of learning a language from scratch. This insight shapes her supportive, practical and engaging teaching style. “Learning a language is a bit like a roller coaster — intial progress and confidence can quickly turn into dips of doubt and a feeling of being stuck. But with patience and practice, everything begins to make sense, and a whole new world gradually unfolds.” Anne is passionate about helping students build real-life communication skills while gaining insight into Danish culture and everyday life. She creates a friendly and inclusive environment where learners feel encouraged, motivated and inspired to keep going.
