What is the course about?

We will start by looking at what your business has to offer and walk through the process of creating a brand strategy and create a consistent identity. The focus of this process is to create a strong, memorable and compelling brand that goes well beyond designing a logo.

You will do some exercises using your own business or product to craft a brand strategy and a mood board for your brand identity. You will get feedback and ideas from your tutor and other students. You will also get lots of tips of where to find out more information online once the course is finished.

If you own a business, are an entrepreneur, marketing manager, designer, copywriter or aspiring marketer and want to look at some of the processes that successful businesses use to craft great brand, this course is for you.

You should have a business, product or business idea to work on in this workshop.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Tutor presentations, class discussions and hand-on exercises. Student preparation and homework outside class times is strongly encouraged.

Julian Holden

Julian worked as a technical manager for two large organisations before taking a career break to study for an MA and to qualify as a teacher. He now divides his business hours between working as a freelance marketing consultant and business coach for small to medium-sized businesses, and teaching for City Lit, two other colleges, and for a number of charities that help people gain the skills to start their own business. His key interests include web design and marketing, content strategy, search engine marketing and the use of social media. He is a huge fan of WordPress and also teaches a range of IT courses in Java, Python, PHP and App development.
