Kensington - Victoria and Albert museum and development of area
The City - Trade and Dickens
Westminster - Power and Politics
Pimlico - Tate Britain, social housing and development
The West End - Victorians at Play
Kings Cross/St. Pancras - Transport and Trade
East End - Slums and Crime.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
understand the impact of the Victorian age on London
identify key Victorian buildings
have a more detailed knowledge of nineteenth century history
have a more detailed knowledge of key figures, events and movements that shaped the Victorian age.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
No particular skills required
The ability to do a two hour moderate walk each week.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
One class room based lecture, followed by a walk in a different part of London each week.
Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
No additional costs. Please bring pen and paper (or electronic equivalent).
