Expectations are a sure way to end up feeling irritated or despondent. How might we live in a productive yet freer way without having expectations that others should fulfil our needs?

Description

What is the course about?

Since childhood we were reliant on others to meet our needs. Yet as we mature and become independent, many of us still carry this childhood desire that others should be available to do things in the way we want them and we get upset when they do not. We can even expect others to read our minds and know in advance what we need. This leads to unnecessary friction and unhappiness in relationships. This course will look at ways we can manager our lives in a happier way with less reliance on others to meet our mental and emotional desires.

This is a live online course. You will need:
- Internet connection. The classes work best with Chrome.
- A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook), or a tablet/iPad/smart phone/iPhone if you don't have a computer.
- Earphones/headphones/speakers.
We will contact you with joining instructions before your course starts.

What will we cover?

Why expectations is the sure path to unhappiness
Examining inferiority and superiority complexes and the link with expectation
Moving to an inner place of peace and calm
Approaching our relationships with a more compassionate view.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

Understand the link between inferiority and superiority complex
Use two methods to dismantle expectations
Use visualisation to reset your inner programming
Review current situations to see what was behind your expectations
Create a new approach to handling expectations of others.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

To take full benefit of this course you need to be willing to engage in personal reflection and join in pair and group discussions.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

This course will include individual reflection, written exercises, video presentations, group discussion, individual and group exercises, as well as the input and experience of the tutor.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

A pen. A journal will be provided.
