What is the course about?
Improve your skills in reading, writing, spelling and grammar, and take an English level 1 exam at the end of the course.
What will we cover?
Topics include: identifying different text types, identifying the main points from texts, formal/informal language, writing using different layouts for a range of purposes and audiences.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
- read and understand a variety of texts
- discuss topics effectively with others
- write longer texts using appropriate style and grammatically correct sentences
- plan and proofread writing.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
This course is for fluent speakers of English. To do this course you will need to be able to read and understand pieces of everyday writing, write in sentences and paragraphs, and express yourself clearly.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
Teaching will be in a supportive group setting, which involves pair and small group work. The interactive whiteboard and computers will help your learning. Handouts and worksheets will allow you to build up a folder of work. You will be given homework on a regular basis.
Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
You will need a pen, some lined A4 paper, and a folder to keep your work in. Your tutor will provide handouts and worksheets.
When I've finished, what course can I do next?
When you successfully complete the course, your tutor will advise you on the next step for you.
