Communication is one of the common skills most demanded by employers along with problem-solving, analysing, influencing, negotiating, decision-making, being organised, collaborating and seeing the bigger picture. Whatever your job or level within a business, these are in-demand skills.
Our courses will help you develop these skills and behaviours for all types of work so you can be confident either in your current job or when looking for new employment. You can combine these courses with our Workplace Digital Skills programme.
What is the best course for me?
You need to do a pre-course assessment. You can also do it online, but a face-to-face assessment is best.

- Every Monday 12- 2pm
- Every Wednesday 6-8pm
- Every Friday 11am-1pm (23rd August – 6th October)
The courses are FREE to most learners if you earn less than £21,547.50 a year or are on Universal Credit, JSA or ESA (WRAG). They are either in the City Lit building or are live online interactive classes. For online courses, you will need a computer with a microphone, a camera and the internet.

Your CV is usually the best chance you have to make a good impression on a potential employer. Too many CVs are badly written and fail to address what the employer is looking for. Don't let yours be one of these!
On this course you will gain the skills and confidence you need to apply for work successfully. You will focus on where to look for work, the different ways of applying for work, the best language to use on CVs and applications as well as how to prepare for interviews.
By the of the course you will confident you can find the work you are looking for.

Are you struggling to turn your interviews into successful job offers? Would you like to be more confident when answering questions and anticipate more effectively what the employer is looking for? This course will help you, You will role play and also develop some key strategies for coping with your nerves, staying focused and producing answers which give you the best chance of succeeding.
