On this course you will learn everything that you need to take your functional skills Level 1 Maths exam. You will develop your mathematical skills and knowledge in working with numbers, measures, shapes and space and Handling data. This course will give you the mathematical skills appropriate to the level, and allow you to apply mathematical thinking to solve simple problems in familiar situations. By the end of the course, you will have an exams to sit which, if you pass, will give you your Functional Skills Level 1 Maths qualification.

This non-accredited course will give you mathematical skills appropriate to the level, and show you how to apply mathematical thinking to solve simple problems in familiar situations. By the end of the course, you will have an inhouse written assessment which will allow your tutor to progress you to the accredited Functional Skills level 1 course.

You will develop your mathematical skills and knowledge to work with numbers including fractions, percentages, ratio and to work out area and perimeter. This non-accredited course (no exam) will give you the opportunity demonstrate a sound grasp of the underpinning skills and basics of maths appropriate to level 2, and to apply mathematical thinking to solve simple problems in familiar situations. By the end of the course, you will have an inhouse written assessment which will allow your tutor to progress you to the accredited course, where you can get your Functional Skills level 2 Maths qualification.

Do you need to gain a national maths qualification to show you have a good level of mathematical competence? Functional Skills Level 2 Maths shows employers and others that your maths skills are at a good level and that you can use skills to solve complex issues in a variety of situations. You will develop your maths to become a problem-solver, analyser and decision-maker.



You MUST pass the first 6 weeks of the course. You must attend every class and do the necessary homework. If you do not, you will not be able to continue the course.

What is algebra? Why is it useful? Is it something you did at school, didn't understand or see the point of? We actually all use algebra in our everyday lives without realising because we need it to solve problems. Problems such as how much money we need to buy groceries, how many bags we need to carry the groceries and how much space we need to put the groceries in at home!



This course will help you see the value and usefulness of algebra and how you can use it in your personal and work life to make calculations easier and to see patterns. It will also be useful if you are doing functional skills or GCSE. You will start with easier calculations and problems so you understand how algebra works before moving on to more complex uses.

Then this Preparing for Maths GCSE is the course for you. It will prepare you for the accreditation and familiarise you with its content, level and expectation. You will need to complete and pass an initial assessment before starting this course to demonstrate at least a Level 1 Functional Skills level of Maths.

Do you need to improve your everyday maths so you become more confident when making calculations with money, interpreting figures, charts and graphs in newspapers or measuring rooms? Do you want to achieve a functional skills qualification but are not yet ready? This course will help you with the essential maths you need to participate fully in society, make progress at work and solve everyday problems. You will work on tasks commonly completed inside and outside the workplace, which require the use of whole numbers, decimals and fractions as well as solving problems involving time, money and measurement. You will discover the properties of 2D and 3D shapes, how to read, interpret and comment on information in tables and charts. By the end of the course, you will be much more aware of how much maths there is in everyday life and how maths can help you.
