  1. A Mile in My Shoes: ESOL and Story-Telling (L1-L2)

    Evening
Course Date: Mon 22 Jun 2020
    Location on this date: Online
“I wish that for just one time you could stand inside my shoes.....” What would it feel like for someone else to walk in your shoes so that just for that one moment they could be you? This course will help you find out. On this free and special course you will work with an ESOL tutor, a professional storyteller and the world famous Empathy Museum to create and tell your own digital story. You will turn an event in your life into a story which will become a podcast and part of an arts project to be distributed around the world. Listeners will be asked to step into your shoes while they listen to your story. They will then send you comments about how they feel about your story. Finally, you will then have an opportunity to write about how you feel about the listeners’ comments and your reflections will be part of a final exhibition at the Empathy Museum shop which you will help to organise.

This is a unique opportunity to develop your English – your pronunciation, speaking, listening, grammar, vocabulary – as well as learn about digital recordings and creating projects. Sponsored by the London Mayor’s Office, this course will require you to be available throughout the summer via Zoom. You will need to complete the pre-course asessment by clicking the ‘Start Assessment’ button. When you log on, please use your email address, not name. Any problems contact universal.skills@citylit.ac.uk.

This course will be delivered online. See the ‘What is the course about?’ section in course details for more information.
