What is the course about?
The course will focus on how to make your event a success and will include top tips on everything from event ideas, finding venues and insurance to the importance of press and PR and social media. Nikki Spencer is an established freelance journalist and events entrepreneur.

Understand what is involved in putting on a successful event.
Plan and deliver the event with improved efficiency and confidence.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
This is an introductory course and does not assume any previous study although you will need a reasonable standard of English to keep up with the course. Rather than being aimed at those who want a career in events management this is for people from all walks of life - volunteers who have stuck their hand up at a meeting and are now wondering where to start, groups or individuals with a fundraising target to hit or maybe those who have already organised a few events and realise there is room for improvement. Enthusiasm and an open mind are more important than specific skills.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
Tutor presentations and discussions with practical exercises.
Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
No, but it is helpful to bring examples relating to any previous events (e.g. flyers, press coverage etc.) with which you may have been involved.
