What is the course about?
Begin your journey into art and art-making - try your hand at drawing and other techniques, discover how to respond to the world around you, be inspired by other artists’ work, tap into your own imagination and bring your own ideas to life.

- How to work with subjects and themes to trigger new ideas and creative thinking
- How to look at art then record and make your own responses
- How to develop your creativity further.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
- Start to make art using a range of techniques
- Record and develop your own creative ideas
- Identify ways in which to take your creativity further.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
Beginners – no prior experience required. Come with an open mind and a willingness to try new techniques.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
Handouts, presentations, demonstrations, practical work, individual and group tutoring, individual and collaborative work and group discussion. A homework task will be set each week.
Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
All materials will be provided. Please bring a A4 sized notebook/sketchbook and pen to take notes and to use throughout your course.

When I've finished, what course can I do next?
Any of our art and design courses that are aimed at beginners would be good follow on courses. Advice will be given at the end of the course by your tutor.
