What is the course about?
This lively workshop will introduce you to l’argot et les expressions familières françaises through watching shorts and listening to some radio programmes. This will allow you to better understand French films and will make your listening to the radio more enjoyable. With a particular emphasis on speaking, listening, practice and vocabulary building, you will also increase your confidence in using your chosen argot and expression familières within your conversation.
Please note that if you attended the workshop on "l'argot" in 2016-17, we recommend that you enrol directly on Expressions familières et argotiques (3).

By the end of this course you should be able to...

• make your listening to the radio more enjoyable
• increase your confidence in using your chosen argot and expression familières within your conversation.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
The workshop will be delivered entirely in French, so you should have studied French to our level 3 upper, 4 or 5
Active participation is expected.
It is also essential that you have knowledge of more complex grammar terminology such as: the subjunctive, the conditional, direct and indirect speech, pronouns.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
- active student interaction
- emphasis on speaking and listening skills and building vocabulary
- pair and group work
- use of audio-visual techniques when appropriate.
