What is the course about?

This course is ideal for those who have completed the Procreate for Illustration course and are wanting to further enhance their digital drawing skills.

You will be guided through a series of practical illustration briefs, further exploring the tools that Procreate features and how they can be used within your drawing practice.

The course will be taught in our dedicated Visual Communication studio which is equipped with macs and scanners, a range of Adobe software, drawing tablets, printers and a vast range of drawing and painting materials.

What will we cover?

You will recap some of the topics learned in the introductory class; Procreate for Illustration, including:

  • Creating and managing files
  • Drawing in Procreate
  • Exploring brushes and colour palettes
  • Exploring texture
  • Using layers and layer masks

You will then get the opportunity to work on briefs which will allow you to explore Procreate independently to create digital drawings

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

  • Confidently use and apply a variety of drawing techniques and brush marks
  • Build colour palettes and apply them directly to your artwork
  • Use layer masks with confidence
  • Understand how layers work and apply these to your artwork

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This course is suitable for learners who have completed the Procreate for Illustration course or have some experience in using the software. An interest and basic skills in illustration are required as this course will be using Procreate to further develop your personal illustration work.

You should be able to follow verbal and written instructions, demonstrations, hand-outs and health and safety information. You may be encouraged to take short written notes for your own use and take part in group discussions.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

The course will be delivered through:

  • Presentations
  • Demonstrations
  • Practical work
  • Individual and group tutoring
  • Group discussion

Additional / extension activities may be set for you to complete at home or outside of the course hours. Completion of additional tasks is encouraged to help you get the most out of the course. Where required your tutor will discuss these with you during each session.
