Get connected through Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Learn the main elements of these essential everyday digital skills in a safe and supportive environment: how to set up Facebook pages, profiles and groups; how to start your Twitter account; how to get going on Instagram.


What is the course about?

This course will help you to learn how to set up and create a Facebook profile, page and group, use them effectively and understand the differences between them. You will learn how to start a Twitter account, how to follow others and make your own tweets, including what you can and can't say! You will also learn how to use Instagram - how to set up an account, what to use it for, how to share photos and create stories.

Writing effective posts
• Instagram
Creating an Instagram profile
Sharing photos
• Twitter
Setting up a Twitter account
Sending tweets and following your favourite tweeters, etc.
Managing your privacy and your account security
Staying safe and secure such as passwords, hacker accounts, spam, etc.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

You should have basic computing and internet skills. You should be able to follow spoken instructions, read, understand and follow written instructions.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Each student has their own computer. Presentations will be made using computers, interactive whiteboard, overhead screen and printed notes. Step-by-step instruction, with demonstrations where appropriate, will help you grasp the concepts. Classes are taught in British Sign Language, and written English.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

Please bring a folder with plastic wallets, pens and paper.

When I've finished, what course can I do next?
