In this course you will learn how to use your feet and ankles more efficiently and integrate them with your whole self. There will be a focus on the function and movement of the feet and ankles, adaptability of the foot to uneven terrains and ability to absorb shock. You will also learn some foot self-care practices.
In addition to the teachings, the tutor will provide various handouts, videos and other course materila via Google Classroom, that you can refer to after the course finishes.

Aside from that we will look at the relationship between the feet, the pelvis and head, and how the feet can become a more integral part of breathing and the core. We will also include functional movements and how to develop more suppleness, strength and stability in the feet.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
Everyone is welcome, no previous knowledge or experience is needed. However you should be able to get down on the floor and up again independently. You should be able to follow verbal and written instructions.
If you have a disability or any health concerns that could affect your participation in the course, please contact the Health and Wellbeing department or your GP for advice. You should also inform your tutor about any relevant conditions or concerns at the beginning of the course.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
This course is practical and involves guided movements and meditations, short presentations and video clips, interactive games, self observation, inquiry, discussions and small group or pair work. Suggestions for home practice will be given but there is no pressure to participate. • Charlotte is a qualified Feldenkrais Teacher and Feldenkrais: Awareness Through Movement teacher.
Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
The best thing to wear is comfortable and loose clothing. The movements are gentle so you need to make sure you will be warm enough for the duration of the workshop, as your body temperature may drop.

Charlotte is a passionate somatic movement and well-being educator with over 17 years of experience. She is committed to fostering self-awareness and self-compassion through movement and trauma-informed practices, to promote healing, self-discovery, and personal growth. In essence, Charlotte helps individuals become more in tune with their own bodies and emotions, which allows them to reconnect better with themselves and foster deeper connections with others. Charlotte works with people from all walks of life in various settings, including the local community, adult education, the commercial sector, and previously the NHS. She offers classes in the Feldenkrais Method®, Mindful Pilates, Balance & Strength for seniors, and specialised workshops, as well as individual Feldenkrais hands-on Functional Integration sessions in the city. In the field of somatics, she has completed training in Pilates, Mindfulness and the Feldenkrais Method® and foundational training in developmental trauma and Focusing created by Eugene Gendlin. Currently, she is undertaking a three-year Somatic Experiencing® training program created by Peter Levine.
