What is the course about?

This course aims to encourage you to speak French more freely. It will develop your listening skills, reinforce your confidence and increase your knowledge of French through a variety of contexts ranging from personal to social.

What will we cover?

Topics: social media; false advertising; complaints and online reviews.

Language points: agreeing and disagreeing; indicative vs subjonctive to share points of view; the subjonctive present; sentences with double pronouns.

Culture: Stromae; the French on strike.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

-to share opinions using more complex sentence structures
-to share feelings using more complex sentence structures
-to share opinions and feelings about social media
-to write an online review

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

French 3 lower: module 2. Students should have recently studied French for at least 3 years or have completed a French 3 lower: module 1 course. In order to join the course, you should be able to do the following:
- talk about the past using a range a past tenses more accurately
- use pronouns more accurately
- express opinions and tastes on various topics
- have a wider range of vocabulary
- structure more complex sentences to share ideas and opinions with others.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Our courses are characterised by spoken interaction and communication. Typical activities include pair work, group work, role plays and games. A range of resources will be used to support your learning including presentations, hand-outs, and audio-visual material.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

The course is based on the coursebook Entre Nous 3 ISBN 978-84-16657-80-3/ 978-84-19236-61-6, units 4&5. Please note that you may not complete all the activities in the book. We suggest that you do not purchase the coursebook until after the first class.

When I've finished, what course can I do next?

French 3 lower: module 3 starting next term. Please enrol on the next module as soon as possible as spaces cannot be guaranteed.

Michel Willame

Michel is an enthusiastic qualified teacher, and his teaching approach is centred on the needs and requirements of the student. In his language classroom he uses role-play encouraging communication in pairs, fill-in-gap exercises, speaking, reading, and listening to promote effective communication in the target language. In 2007 he completed research on Second Language Acquisition theories and their impact in the language classroom and obtained a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education from Institute of Education University of London. Michel has taught in a variety of educational settings from College Further Education to Higher Education, including corporate training for major companies and international organisations.
