What is the course about?

This course aims to further improve your intermediate French.. You will build up your confidence with an emphasis on speaking and listening. You will move towards fluency and the course will give you a greater insight into French life and culture.

This is a live online course. You will need:
- Internet connection. The classes work best with Chrome.
- A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook), or a tablet/iPad/smart phone/iPhone if you don't have a computer.
- Earphones/headphones/speakers.
We will contact you with joining instructions before your course starts.

What will we cover?

Topics: small ads, job applications, interviews, wishes

Grammar: revision of the future tenses (futur proche & simple), conditional and hypothetical sentences (si…).

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

- have more confidence in your ability to understand and be understood in French
- recognise and pronounce French sounds more accurately

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

You should have completed French 3 lower practise and consolidate : module 1 or have done 3 years of French recently. It is also essential that you have some knowledge of basic grammar terminology (e.g. verb, noun, conjugation, pronoun, etc.).

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Our courses are characterised by spoken interaction and communication. Typical activities include pair work, group work, role plays and games. A range of resources will be used to support your learning including presentations, hand-outs, and audio-visual material.
Homework is highly recommended to consolidate learning.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

The course is mainly based on the tutor's own materials. The tutor will advise you on a course book at the beginning of the term if necessary. If a book is suggested, please try the European Bookshop by selecting 'City Lit' and the language you are studying at this web page or call them at 020 7734 5259. If you state on the website, by phone or in the shop that you are studying with us, you can claim a 10% discount. You might be asked for your student number.

Bonjour! My name is Julie and I am from Nice, Côte d'azur. I have been teaching French in the UK since 2005 so it has been... a while. I started in Edinburgh, Scotland, where I graduated with an MCs in Language Teaching form the University of Edinburgh, and taught at Edinburgh Napier University and at the University of Edinburgh Life Long learning school. I then came to London where I started teaching at Citylit in 2011. I was also a French teacher at Queen Mary University of London for 7 seven years. I enjoy teaching languages and am very passionate to share and transmit my passion for my language. I make a point to create a relaxed atmosphere in my class, but I am very organised. So fear not!
